Hooda chipped in with the ball in the 1st innings but it was his jersey that made the news. Deepak Hooda was the talking point on social media after the Indian all-rounder was spotted wearing a Prasidh Krishna jersey during the first innings of the IND vs WI 2nd ODI. The LSG star earlier had tape plastered on the name and took the first wicket of the match, dismissing the dangerous Kyle Mayers. It was incidentally Hooda’s first wicket in ODIs.
Prasidh Krishna was not part of the playing XI having been replaced by Avesh Khan. Krishna generally dons the No.24, while Hooda has worn the No.57 on his back during his previous matches.
Incidentally, Krunal Pandya has also won the No.24 for India previously. Krunal and Hooda were great rivals falling out while playing together for Baroda. The latter in protest moved to Rajasthan where he displayed some top form to earn an India call up. The duo have since patched things up, playing together for the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL.
