Former selector Saba Karim has noticed that Iyer trouble has extended beyond the short-pitched deliveries. “Speaking of Shreyas Iyer, not just short-pitched stuff, even good, tight bowling seems to be troubling him of late. It would be wise on the part of the Indian team management if Deepak Hooda is brought back in the XI,” Saba Karim told InsideSport.

Hooda vs Shreyas Iyer? There is a genuine case for bringing in Hooda into the playing XI for the second T20. Besides the form, Hooda brings in the element of all-rounder skills as an off-spinner. It only adds flexibility to the team combination.
Iyer, who was picked in the first T20, has not been able to justify his place. His recent record for India in the shorter format has been poor, to say the least. He has scores of 14, 4, 0 not out, 28 and 0. Compare this to Hooda, who has amassed 21, 47 not out, 104 and 33 in his last four matches.

Why Hooda deserves a spot ahead of Iyer
- Hooda can prove to be handy with the ball
- Hooda has been scoring runs at will when he has got a chance to play
- Iyer has consistently failed of late in the T20 format
- Playing an inform Hooda will strengthen the batting department
- Hooda can be used a floater in the playing XI as the batter can finish off innings as well
- With Virat Kohli out of form, he can be looked upon as an alternative number three batter for T20 World Cup
Srikkanth backs Hooda the all-rounder: Srikkanth was surprised not see Hooda in the playing XI for the first game. After a string of impressive performance in white ball cricket, Srikkanth believes having an all-rounder like Hooda will only make India team look solid.
