Like every wicketkeeper, Rishabh Pant plays a big role in on-field decision making. However, more often than not, he has shown immaturity with shot selection and has been at the centre of discussion.

Why Jasprit Bumrah was chosen ahead of Rishabh Pant?
- Bumrah is one of the first names in the team sheet when he is available.
- As the leader of the bowling group, Bumrah gives a lot of inputs to the skipper on field setting and decision making.
- Rishabh Pant although plays an important role in taking DRS calls as the keeper, he has shown a lot of immaturity with the bat.

“There was no discussion regarding other options. We were absolutely clear on Rohit Sharma. There is no problem with Rohit. It will be very important to have him fit. We will be in discussion with him regarding that. Rohit will be the permanent captain and we will have to groom a future captain under him. All three will be in the leadership group,” Chetan Sharma said.
