In the video, Shastri can be seen reminiscing about India’s victory in the ODI series, the last time they toured the rainbow nation in 2018 when he was the head coach. India played a six-match series and defeated the hosts comfortably by winning the series 5-1 thereby creating history by becoming the first Indian team to win a bilateral ODI series in South Africa, ending a 25-year wait.

In the video Shastri says, “I will never forget the historic 2018 tour. After 25 years, first ODI series win in South Africa. Now in 2022, the boys are ready to fight again. With the new coach Rahul Dravid leading from the front, can the team create history again?’ He ends the video by saying ‘Believe in Blue.”

Star Sports is the official broadcaster of the series in India and earlier, Shastri had already featured in the promo #FirstKaThirst ahead of the Test series which India lost 1-2.
In the ODI series, the scenario for India will however be different from the last time as the visitors will be playing their first ODI series after Kohli stepped down from captaincy. The series will be played under the leadership of stand-in skipper KL Rahul since captain designate Rohit Sharma missed the tour due to a hamstring injury.
