1. Gaikwad-Kishan stand tall in Rohit-Rahul absence
Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad both did not enjoy the best of IPL seasons but have now bounced back amongst the runs. The duo have now put on two 50-run partnerships in 3 innings, proving themselves to be able backups in the absence of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. Both Gaikwad and Kishan scored half-centuries at Vizag giving India the perfect launch pad to put on a huge score on the board.
2. Chahal’s magic, Axar Patel turn up in must-win game
Spin has been an Achilles heel for India over the last year or so but Rishabh Pant breathed a sigh of relief after Yuzvendra Chahal and Axar Patel found their mojo back on Tuesday. Having struggled in the previous two T20s, the duo stepped to set up India’s win, choking the South African batsmen in the middle overs. While Axar returned with figures of 1/28 in his four, it was Chahal who was the wrecker in chief, bagging 3/20 in his four overs.
3. The return of Harshal Patel and Bhuvi’s consistency
Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled the spell of his life in Cuttack and continued with his brilliant form in Vizag. The veteran finished with figures of 1/21 in his four overs consistently hitting the right length. However, Harshal Patel’s return to form would be the biggest positive with the death overs specialist finishing with figures of 4/25. Patel who was taken to the cleaners in the first two games, cleverly mixed his line and length to help his side to victory.
