“I think he is going to be the game-changer for India, more often than not, in all the matches that are due to come, not just the World Cup but every single match that India plays, whether he bats at No. 5, whether he comes into bowl at first change or second change,” Gavaskar further added.

Meanwhile, Pant could indeed play a punt by giving Hardik Pandya the new ball, as the latter looked in great rhythm in IPL 2022. The Gujarat Titans skipper picked up 8 wickets at an economy rate of under 8 runs per over. Besides that, he also starred in the final by picking up three major wickets, including that of opposition’s skipper, Rishabh Pant.
