- Mayank Agarwal has been grinding hard to make an impact in the upcoming Test series. He was seen training at BKC, Mumbai and looked good to do well.
- He is coming on the back of an impressive IPL season where he amassed 400+ runs. His form will add to his confidence.
- The stylish opener has not featured in a Test since January 2021 which was played against Australia in Brisbane.
- Mayank Agarwal has scored 1052 runs for India in just 14 Tests but has managed just 102 runs against Kiwis in 2 Tests at an average of 25.5

Shubman Gill
- India opener Shubman Gill was sent back home from India tour of England after sustaining a shin injury.
- He recovered from the injury and played a crucial part of KKR in the UAE leg of IPL 2021, ending the season with 478 runs.
- He had recently impressed for Punjab in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with a couple of 40s and 34. The youngster will look to continue his form against New Zealand at home.
- Gill had last played a Test for India in the WTC Final where he failed to impress after a forgetful series against England at home.
Wriddhiman Saha
- At 37, Saha will not have many opportunities to play for India in Test cricket.
- In absence of attacking Rishabh Pant, Saha will have to come up with runs under his belt if he wants to continue with Team India in the upcoming India tour of South Africa.
- In absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul, Saha’s workload is likely to rise if New Zealand pacers take early wickets.
- His IPL franchise coach Trevor Bayliss had called him a ‘fit player’ during the recent season. He has amassed 112 runs against the Kiwis in 3 games.
