Kishan was in the headlines after he smashed a magnificent double century against Bangladesh last year in December. Despite his heroics against Bangladesh, Kishan did not get a chance against SriLanka in a three-match ODI series. Skipper Rohit Sharma termed it ‘Unfortunate’ as he along with Shubman Gill opened the innings in all three games against the Islanders.

However, Kishan got his lucky break during the first ODI encounter against NewZealand. With both Rishabh Pant and KL Rahul out of the series, the team Indian team management decided to give Kishan the wicket-keeping duties and bat in the middle order.

Speaking about his performance in the first game, Kishan came out to bat when India lost its second wicket. The left-handed batter tried to spend some time in the middle. However, his innings came to an end as express pacer Lockie Ferguson scalped him.
