  • Ajaz Patel bowled as many as 6 maidens but couldn’t keep built the pressure.

IND vs NZ LIVE: Kane Williamson had earlier said that spin will be a big factor throughout the series while coach Gary Stead had brought forward the idea to match India by playing three spinners. Unfortunately, the copycat idea didn’t yield the desired result for the Kiwis.

“Throughout the whole series, spin component will be a definite factor. Number of teams have faced similar challenges and our expectation won’t be any different. There will be a large spin component.”

“Spin factor is going to be there and someone like Ajaz and Somerville have played a big part in our bowling attack. Particularly, in these conditions, so they will play an important role for us. There will be some reverse swing, we will try to create ways to get wickets so there will be a role for both seamers and spinners,” he had added on Wednesday.

“The traditional way of playing four seamers and one part-time spinner can’t be the way to go over here. You may see three spinners playing in this game and that will be decided once we have a look at the surface,” said New Zealand coach Gary Stead.
