Prior to the game, India’s biggest-ever win in T20s was against Ireland back in 2018 when India convincingly won the game at Dublin by 143 runs. But that record was broken in Ahmedabad in front of lakh supporters when India crushed the Kiwis to inflict a 168-run victory.

As for the Kiwis, the visitors now registered their lowest total against India. Ironically, their 66-run knock also means that it is the lowest score any team has scored against India in the shortest format of the game. Earlier, Ireland managed 70 runs against India back in 2018.

New Zealand’s 66-run knock against India isn’t their lowest T20I score, this being the only saving grace. In turn, it is their 2nd lowest score. The Kiwis managed to score 60 runs against SriLanka in 2014 and 60 against Bangladesh in 2021, both being the joint lowest score, registered by the team in the shortest format of the game.

Quite often it has been seen where a batter scores more than the entire team score of the opposition. A similar incident happened in this game. While Indian opener Shubman Gill managed to slam 126 runs, the Kiwis were bowled out for just 66 runs. The same happened earlier when Virat Kohli slammed 122 runs against Afghanistan in the Asia Cup, but the Asian opponents were wrapped apart after scoring just 111 runs.
