On a record-breaking day at Edgbaston, Rishabh Pant had fans glued to the action with a stunning century on Day 1 of the IND vs ENG 5th Test. Pant put on a show of counter-attacking brilliance to rescue India and put them in command.
The 24-year-old clipped Stuart Broad for a risky two to complete a century off just 89 balls. While he soaked in the applause of Edgbaston, the dressing room sparked celebrations applauding Pant’s blitzkrieg.

Amongst the group of players, Rahul Dravid also stood up and roared in delight as Pant raised his bat to the skies. Dravid pumped the air with passion pleased with what he saw from the 24-year-old in a rare display of emotion from the Wall of Indian cricket. Watch the video here:

After Pant was dismissed, the crowd gave him a standing ovation as he walked back to the pavilion. The dressing room also applauded his heroics and congratulated him with players standing up on their feet. Dravid himself gave him a pat on his back before the 24-year-old stepped into the changing rooms.

Before the Indian team, Pant had worked under Rahul Dravid with the U-19 and India ‘A’ set-up. The duo also shared the dressing room during the former Indian captain’s time at Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals). Pant spent his initial years in the IPL under Dravid’s wing and is spreading those wings in international cricket.
