“Communication was the key. We decided to make small partnerships of 20-50 runs. We started at 98/5 and carried on. This was the best part,” said Rishabh Pant.
Two terrific hundreds from Pant and Jadeja set the pace of the game in India’s favour. The duo went on to hit 222 runs, the highest ever in India’s sixth-wicket stand against England. Rishabh Pant, unfortunately, missed his 150 when he was dismissed on 146.
“Often in test cricket when you hit 3-4 boundaries and then you wish to hit again there are chances of getting out. We spoke with each other and decided that we need to stretch the partnership to the farthest that we can. That partnership changed the complexion of the game. We all contributed as a team together,” said Jadeja.

The terrific knock and the partnership of both the batters received wide appreciation all across the globe from all cricket lovers. Jadeja was around 20 runs short of 100 when Rant was dismissed. But the all-rounder carried on his charge the next day and went on to score a magnificent hundred.
“At one point it felt like I was watching the highlights. We discussed the strategies, we decided on shot selections and planned accordingly, and executed them to perfection. Rishabh was confident with his shots and was extremely calm,” added Jadeja.
“I feel every century you score in international cricket is amazing. I don’t think much about it. I only think of giving my 100% every time I am on the crease. For building such an innings you need a partner whom you can trust. Jadeja was so calm and composed that I got confidence on my end to bat well,” concluded Pant.
