That confidence stems from their impressive performance against New Zealand recently. Their batters delivered to chase down good scores in the fourth innings.
“The way we played the three games against New Zealand, we’re not overawed by what the opposition are going to get in the first innings, and we’re not scared of what we need to chase in the fourth innings,” Collingwood was quoted as saying in The Cricketer.
“We’ve been pretty successful in those three games. We’re not playing conventional Test-match cricket, we’re trying to be as attacking as possible, we’re trying to take wickets.”

Having said that, it is going to be interesting to see how much more can India add to their overnight score of 338/7. If they manage to add 60 more, India are sure to be in the driver’s seat for the remainder of the match.
Collingwood may be correct in his assessment about England playing fearless and positive cricket against New Zealand. But India bowlers led by Bumrah are a different breed altogether.
