India’s dismal record at Edgbaston –

  • Over the years, India have played seven matches at the iconic venue but have never tasted win.
  • In seven attempts, the team has only managed to salvage a draw while the rest of the other contests have ended in defeats.
  • The solitary draw came way back in 1986 when India clinched its second Test series win on English soil, winning 2-0.
  • To date, Kapil Dev’s side in 1986 remain the only side to escape without a defeat at the bogie venue.

Some good memories at Edgbaston-

While much has been made about India’s record at Edgbaston, India still has good memories at the venue. In 2013 India won the Champions Trophy under MS Dhoni’s captaincy when India beat England in the final.

This is also the last ICC Trophy India managed to win and since have lost in either final or semifinal of the major ICC events. However the primary aim will be to make sure India avoid defeat in the fifth Test to clinch the series.

Draw good enough at Edgbaston –

  • Rohit tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday while Mayank Agarwal was called as back-up.
  • It now remains to be seen how India and England approach the match as momentum is on the hosts’ side.
