Ind vs Eng 4th Test: England pace spearhead James Anderson has become the only third pacer to claim 900 wickets in the international career. With the achievement, Anderson has joined Glenn McGrath and Wasim Akram on the elite list. While McGrath has 949 wickets to his name, Akram has scalped 916 wickets in his international career spanning 19 years.

Besides this, Muttiah Muralitharan (1347), Shane Warne (1001) and Anil Kumble (956) are on the list of spinners on this list.

Overall Anderson is the sixth bowler to pick 900 wickets in international cricket. The 38-year-old is the first England bowler to achieve the milestone. Stuart Broad is next on the list with 760 wickets.

The England pacer is only six wickets behind Anil Kumble’s record (619)—third-highest wicket-taker in Tests. Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne are the highest wicket-taker in tests with 800 and 708 wickets to their names.

Anderson reached the feat when he took the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane in the 37th over India innings. The wicket has helped England leave India tottering at 80/4 at Lunch.

Earlier on Day 1, Anderson had dismissed Shubman Gill for a duck, handing England an early breakthrough. England need a top performance from Anderson if they are to avoid successive series loss in India. They are 1-2 behind in the four-match Test series. In their last India tour (2016/17), Englishmen lost the test series 4-0.

India had dismissed England for 205 runs in their first innings, courtesy R Ashwin (3) and Axar Patel (4) wickets. Mohammad Siraj had scalped two wickets after replacing Bumrah in the India lineup.
