The incident happened during India’s second innings on Day 4 when Virat Kohli pricked James Anderson for running on the pitch.

Virat Kohli clearly muttered “this is a pitch and you are running here, this isn’t your backyard” to James Anderson. While this was clearly heard as recorded in the stump mic, the Indian skipper is speculated to have hurled unhealthy abuse prior to this statement.
IND vs ENG 2nd Test – Kohli vs Anderson: The incident happened in the 17th over while Cheteshwar Pujara was batting at the striker’s end. After the fourth delivery, Kohli muttered out such words on England’s pacer- James Anderson.
After Anderson piped out some words in reply, India captain continued to have a go at Anderson saying, “chirp chirp chirp. This is what old age makes you,” after the latter bowled the fifth delivery.

Virat Kohli Kohli dismissed for 20 runs
As the incident left Kohli enraged, fans predicted that Kohli’s frustration would roar loud with his willow and would end up in a hundred. However, soon the right-handed batsman was dismissed by Sam Curran in a delivery wide outside the off stump.
Kohli, got the edge while attempting a poor shot that was touching the 7th stump. He was caught by the wicketkeeper Jos Buttler and departed at 20 after facing 31 deliveries.
