Dhawan’s strike rate has been an issue this year. The left-handed batter has played 21 games in 2022 so far and has amassed 685 runs at an average of 36.05. However, he has failed to score these runs quickly. With the ODI game changing fast, Dhawan’s strike-rate of 74.53 has been criticized quite often. Ishan Kishan has been named in the ODI series against Bangladesh but has not got a game so far. Kishan has played six ODI innings this year. In those six outings, he has scored 207 runs at an average of 34.50. Shubman Gill is another prime contender for the opening spot. He has played 12 ODI games in 2022 and has stroked 638 runs at an average of 70.88. His strike rate is also above 100.
