Taking to Twitter Jaffer posted images drawing comparison between Nagpur pitch and how Australian media are perceiving the surface. In one of the image an Australian player is seen feeling the surface at VCA, while the other picture is of rock samples.

Australia criticize Nagpur pitch
In build up to the Nagpur Test, former Australia wicketkeeper Ian Healy had potshot at India for denying Australia quality preparation. Speaking on SEN Radio Healy had said, “We’ve gathered our spinners in Sydney for strategic talks (on replica India surfaces)… we no longer trust that the requested facilities will be provided for a nation. We’ve been part of this shenanigan too by the way… when we’re over (in England) we spend our time whining about weakened County teams that England put up as our opposition before the series.”
Healy had backed the comments made by Usman Khawaja regarding not playing warm up fixture. The opener had earlier said that there was no point playing practice games as the wickets prepared for tour fixtures and actual matches in India were very different.
The opener had earlier said, “Have you ever been pre-tour with us (Australia)? They can be spinning wickets when we play but we go to the practice matches and they are green Gabba-like wickets out there (in India), so what’s the point,”

IND vs AUS: Australia withhold playing XI until toss
Ahead of the Nagpur Test Australia took a huge decision to not reveal their playing XI untill the toss. Going by comments made by Australian skipper Pat Cummins during press conference, Australia still looks be unsettled with the surface at VCA stadium. Cummins and other members of the Australian team were captured having a close look at the surface. Speaking to media during the press conference, Cummins said, “Looks a little bit dry for left-handers. Potentially fair bit of rough there, but if we have to deal with it and relish the challenge,” . Having looked at the surface it will be interesting to see as to what combination will Australia play in the opening match.
