IND vs AUS: Senior batter Dinesh Karthik on Saturday (February 4) announced that he will join the commentary team for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, commencing February 9. The series will commence in Nagpur and conclude in Ahmedabad. Ahead of his commentary stint, Karthik hit the nets to stay in shape for the upcoming IPL edition. To note, Karthik is a part of the Royal Challengers Bangalore squad in the IPL. Karthik was signed by RCB for ₹5.5 crore at the IPL 2022 mega auction in February. He was given the clear role of a finisher in the RCB setup.
Karthik had a brilliant campaign, scoring 330 runs at a mind-boggling strike rate of 183. He was adjudged the ‘Super Striker of the Season’ based on his performances throughout the course of the tournament. With this excellent performance, Karthik also earned a call up to the Indian squad for the last concluded T20 World Cup.

Earlier, Karthik posted a cryptic tweet which confused the netizens. the senior batter, who has been away from the national setup since the 2022 T20 World Cup, wrote that he is set for another debut against Australia. “Made my Test debut in India against Australia…Well…It’s happening again!” he wrote on Twitter.

Having been out of the national side since the 2019 World Cup, Karthik signed up with Sky Sports for the 2021 season. He provided commentary for the India-England white-ball series from his home, and in June, he traveled to the UK to be in the commentary box for all the matches. Karthik is set to make his commentary debut against Australia, having not yet performed the commentator’s role in India.
