The Little Master says, “If India doesn’t win T20 World Cup, then it won’t be for lack of preparation.” For the unreserved, the Rohit Sharma-led side have played six T20Is before playing four World Cup warm-up games Down Under. “One thing for sure. If the Indian team does not win this T20 World Cup it won’t be for lack of preparation. Not only have they gone to Australia almost three weeks before their first game of the tournament, but they are also playing practice games against good sides that should get them ready for the tournament,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Mid-Day.

ICC T20 World Cup 2022: Why Gavaskar believes if India loses the T20 World Cup it won’t come down for lack of preparation?
- Unlike the T20 World Cup 2021 edition, wherein Indian players played only IPL, this time they have got four practice warm-up games as well.
- Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly was instrumental in India getting two unofficial practice games against Western Australia.
- Besides that, the Rohit Sharma-led side have played two T20 series against top teams Australia and South Africa before coming to the showpiece event.
- Clearly, the team cannot complain of lack of practice. Gavaskar opines the team has got enough games and should be confident of bringing the Cup home.
“The old saying, ‘if you fail to prepare then prepare to fail’ will not apply to this Indian team as, apart from these games in Australia, they also played six T20 matches at home and won four out of those to show that they are tuning in nicely for the big event.”
