I-League: Rajasthan United have been very active among the I-League outfits as they have roped in Uzbek midfielder Sardor Jakhonov in the final few hours of transfer deadline day. The 25-year-old will join the I-League debutants and will look to help them achieve greater heights. Follow all the Indian Football updates only on InsideSport.IN

The 25-year-old midfielder who last featured for Kyrgyz top tier outfit FK Kaganat will be looking to make a mark on Indian shores this season. Jakhonov started his career at Qizilqum Zarafshan’s U-21 team and gradually impressed the coaches to get a move to their senior side. He joined second-division side FC Oqtepa in 2020 and after spending a few months he jumped ship to join another Uzbek second division team Xorazm Urganch FC. He was on the move again as he signed for FK Kaganat, this was his first challenge outside of his native Uzbekistan.  In 12 appearances for the Kyrgyz club, the 25-year-old scored two goals and assisted thrice and looks like a very technical midfielder.

Jakhonov will be taking up the AFC quota role at Rajasthan United replacing Tajikistan international Komron Tursunov who joined Churchill Brothers recently. Jakhonov is a centre midfielder who can adjust his playing style to the system. He can also slot in as an attacking midfielder or can also play as a defensive midfielder if need be.

Rajasthan United have made some great acquisitions on the January transfer deadline day. They have already signed Spanish star forward Pedro Manzi who guided Chennai City to the I-League, a few seasons ago. They have also signed Ricky Shabong from ATK Mohun Bagan and Biswa Darjee from Bengaluru FC. Both youngsters will be looking for gametime and in order will look to help the debutants.

However, the biggest signing of the window has to be the acquisition of the Argentine centre back Mauro Dos Santos. The 32-year-old defender comes to India with immense La Liga experience having plied his trade for La Liga outfits like UD Almeria, SD Eibar and Leganes.
