As the Indian Arrows will play host to the Aizawl FC at the Tilak Maidan in Goa today (Monday) both the teams will be looking for their first win in the I-League 2019-20 season. The All India Football Federation’s development side is coming into the game after having lost their season opener to Gokulam Kerela by a solitary gold.
Aizawl FC, after playing out a scoreless draw with Mohun Bagan in their opener have been beaten 1-0 by Neroca FC in their last match. “The match was played at a high tempo and both teams played with tremendous fighting spirit. Neroca scored the first goal through a free-kick and my players missed some scoring chances. In the second half, we dominated the game in all aspects and created many chances but couldn’t find the target,” Aizawl FC Head Coach Stanley Rozario said at the pre-match Press conference.
The home team coach Shanmugam Venkatesh, however, draws many positives even from his side’s defeat in the last game, while accepting some holes need to be plugged. “The game we played against Gokulam was good and we played really well – but in patches. In some parts of the game, we were very good but there are still a lot of things to improve and work upon.
“Aizawl are a good side and have quite a few quality players. Their coach Stanley Rozario is very experienced. They will come out fighting after their result in the first two matches and we are working hard to get ready for the game,” Venkatesh added.
The match at the Tilak Maidan will start at 7:00 pm. Fans can watch the action LIVE on DSport.
