Guru Purnima: Famous anecdote between Tendulkar and Achrekar

Once Tendulkar missed his practice session to cheer for his favorite team in a match in Wankhede stadium. Next moment Tendulkar recalled that he got a late-cut (tight slap) on his face by Achrekar. The intensity was so fierce that the tiffin box in his hand flew and tossed onto the ground.

Tendulkar recalled that Achrekar told him never to miss any match to cheer for others. Instead, the coach insisted Tendulkar to play in such a way that others cheer for him.

Since that famous incident, Tendulkar recalled that he began practicing very hard and put in a lot of hours.

Regarded as one of the greatest batsmen of all time, Tendulkar holds the record of being the highest run-scorer of all time in the international cricket, having notched up 18,426 runs in ODI and 15,921 runs in Test matches. Tendulkar’s cricket career spanned for around 24 years.
