French Open 2021: Who will win 21st Grand Slam, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer?:The year’s second grand slam- French Open 2021– is back at Roland Garros. The opening round matches will kick off on May 30 and the finals will take place on June 13. Amid this, there is only one question that lies among the majority of tennis fans worldwide- Who will clinch the 21st Grand Slam title, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer? The two of them are currently equal with 20 grand slams and the French Open title is the perfect way to settle the debate.
Also known as ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal has won a record 13 titles in French Open. He will be eyeing for yet another title in the Paris showpiece event, i.e., played on clay. It is notable that Rafael Nadal has won the last four editions of the French Open on a trot. He is coming on the back of a win in the Italian Open final against World No.1 Novak Djokovic.
With 13 titles in 13 finals, no other player has managed the feat other than Nadal. In 102 matches, Nadal has won 100, a record that is unparallel in Roland Garros. His win-loss record in the French Open is 100-2 with the two losses coming against Novak Djokovic and Robin Soderling. If Nadal manages to win French Open 2021, he will equal his own record of winning the clay-court event a record five times in a row. He achieved the feat between 2010-14 and won it four consecutive times twice — 2005-2008 and 2017-2020.

French Open 2021: Who will win 21st Grand Slam, ‘King of Clay’ Rafael Nadal or ‘GOAT’ Roger Federer?
Swiss Tennis Maestro Roger Federer will have fought odds in order to script history in the French Open 2021. Recently, he made his comeback to the clay court but lost to a lower-ranked compatriot Pablo Andujar in straight sets. The 39-year-old hasn’t played tennis before that for five months.
Earlier this month, Federer said that since the French Open was delayed for a week, it has affected his schedule drastically.
“I’m convinced that hitting a lot of balls – you have to really power through the ball like you have to on clay because otherwise, you’re not going to have an impact on this surface,” he told Reuters.
Federer has reached French Open titles 5 times where he was beaten by Nadal on four occasions.
Having said that, Federer will still be a fierce competitor so we cannot rule him out of Roland Garros 2021.
Federer on Clay
Federer has won 223 out of 294 matches on clay, which includes 11 titles.
