French Open 2021: Serena Williams likely to achieve this big record in Roland Garros 2021- The much-awaited second Grand Slam of 2021- the French Open is set to kick off on May 30. Top seed Serena Williams would like to end her title drought after missing out on an opportunity in the Australian Open. She has won as many as 23 Grand Slams titles and only a Grand Slam away from a record-equaling 24 with Margaret Court. The latter had won the most number of Grand Slam titles in her tennis career.
In the upcoming French Open 2021, Serena Williams will aim to win the title for 4th time. She had last won the tournament in 2015.
The American legend is currently on a title drought since the 2017 Australian Open title.
Serena Williams Grand Slam titles

In women’s game, Serena Williams is even ahead of tennis legends Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal (20 Grand Slam titles) and Novak Djokovic (18 Grand Slam titles) as compared to men’s game.
Margaret Court’s 24 Grand Slam titles is the only significant record that Serena Williams hasn’t broken in her 23-year-old Grand Slam career where she revolutionized women’s tennis with her pulverizing serve and powerful groundstrokes.

The clay-court will bring a different challenge for Serena which has been the least rewarding of the four majors for Williams.
Since the 2017 Final, Serena Williams has reached four grand slam finals but she is unable to break the jinx. Besides this, She has not been past the fourth round at Roland Garros since 2016 and will go into the tournament with just a single win on clay this season- against 17-year-old Italian Lisa Pigato, ranked 512nd in the world.
In the Australian Open 2021, she crashed out after the semifinals.
Her coach Patrick Mouratoglou believes that the American star feels that Williams will face stiff competition in Roland Garros 2021.
“Since 2018 she played Grand Slam finals on all surfaces other than clay,” Mouratoglou, who has been working with the former world number one since 2012, said in an interview.
“When you are playing Grand Slam finals you’re not that far from winning it. There is this pressure when you play a match for history that you have to be able to handle,” he said.
“I would say that Roland Garros is the most difficult because it requires her to be at the top on the physical side and it doesn’t highlight her qualities in the same way. But I think on the other surfaces she will have her chance,” he added.
