It also disrupted the plans of hosting a super-fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou. That said, Jones is finally back in the UFC and will make his heavyweight debut against Ciryl Gane for the vacant title.

Reflecting on the UFC 285 Jones vs Gane fight, Francis Ngannou said, “I want to share my excitement for the heavyweight fight between Jon Jones and Ciryl Gane. It’s going to be a very exciting fight. I am going to be watching that fight but we all know the term undisputed mean nothing here.”

Francis Ngannou reportedly received an $8-million multi-fight deal from the UFC which would have tuned him into the highest-paid heavyweight ever in the company. However, ‘The Predator’ claimed to have demanded more than just money. Ngannou wanted to have independent sponsorship rights, medical insurance, and an advocate for fighters on the director’s board. The UFC and their champion failed to come to terms and ultimately split their ways.
