Formula 1: Spanish Formula 1 driver Fernando Alonso is getting upset with the beginning of the F1 2022 season and has let his feelings be known after the Austrian Grand Prix. In a recording of his remarks over the headset to his group while in the driving seat, Alonso can be heard whining and disappointed with the present circumstance. “We could have finished sixth or seventh?” Alonso asked this after the Austrian Grand Prix got concluded.

“That’s because [Daniel] Ricciardo was in front. We could have gained more positions, to be honest, sixth or seventh was a real option. I’ve got no words, man, there’s things this season that are hard to understand. Let’s try to have a better second half [of the season],” Alonso added.

The Alpine driver was troubled by any stretch of the imagination with his performance or his completion, however, he is tired of outside factors holding him up. He has had issues in eight of the 11 races up to this point and is nine points behind his tally as compared to the 2021 season. “Another problem, in my car again, we’ve lost 50 or 60 points already this season,” Alonso complained.

The list of problems for Alonso continues this season and the list is too long to even make a note of it. In the season opener at Sakhir, he endured a motor problem which made him finish the Bahrain GP down in the ninth spot.

At the Saudi Arabian GP, everything was working out positively until his engine broke down totally and he suffered his first of four zero-point races with a DNF. A blend of vehicle deficiencies and strategic misjudgments have predetermined Alonso to an unfortunate first half of the season.

At the inaugural Miami GP, Alonso got an unfortunate penalty that he deemed unfair on his part. But, at the British GP, things looked different for him as he had a race with no problems at all.

The Spaniard secured the fifth spot in what he should see as the standard of still scoring points and going for the race wins if he is not uninterrupted by factors that are out of his control. Meanwhile, Alonso sees himself tenth overall in the drivers’ standings with just 29 points to his name.
