Jorge Diaz of Mumbai City FC and Cleiton Silva of East Bengal are the top contenders for the ISL Golden Boot award for the 2022–23 season. While Cleiton Silva made his debut in 2020 and scored 16 goals in 37 games for Bengaluru FC before moving to East Bengal, Jorge Diaz made his debut in the previous season. Lallianzuala Chhangte of Mumbai City FC, Diego Mauricio of Odisha FC, and Abdenasser El Khayati and Petar Sliskovic of Chennaiyin have all also scored seven goals each.
With 18 goals, Bartholomew Ogbeche tied for the most goals ever scored by a player in a single season and earned the ISL 2021–22 Golden Boot. With 58 goals scored, Bartholomew Ogbeche, a member of the ISL from 2018–19, also holds the record for the most ISL goals ever. Sunil Chhetri, the captain of Bengaluru FC and an Indian talisman with 52 goals, is Ogbeche’s closest rival.
Ivan Kalyuzhnyi, a Ukrainian midfielder, opened the ISL 2022–23 season with a brace as Kerala Blaster defeated East Bengal 3–1. This marked the beginning of the ISL 2022–23 Golden Boot campaign. In all, 110 games are planned for the ISL 2022–2023 season. Even though the season is almost halfway over, the battle for the Golden Boot grows more interesting with each passing gameday.
