Real Madrid and PlayStation have signed a partnership agreement which will see the two iconic brands work closely towards strategic goals in Spain. The agreement includes Los Blancos’ men’s football team, women’s football team and both basketball teams working under the club’s umbrella.
From the PlayStation side, all their current products are involved in the agreement as well, including PS VR and the two digital services on offer to gamers, PlayStation Plus and PlayStation Now. In addition to this, the PlayStation 4 and the soon to be released PlayStation 5 will become the official consoles of Real Madrid.
“We welcome PlayStation as the official console of Real Madrid,” Director of Institutional relations at Real Madrid, Emilio Butragueno, declared. “The mission of this partnership is to offer our fans a connection platform between the club and the virtual world, through new and unique experiences.”
Liliana Laporte, CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment Iberia, was quick to follow up on Butragueno’s comments. “We are very happy to announce this strategic alliance between PlayStation and Real Madrid,” she added. “This will maximise the efforts of both brands to provide many hours of entertainment to millions of people both in the traditional and virtual sports environments. “We’re really eager to see how far we can go together in the future.”
Fans looking to know just how this benefits them as individuals need look no further, with there already an official Real Madrid branded PlayStation 4 Pro console available which also includes a DUALSHOCK4 wireless controller, a 1TB hard-drive and a copy of EA Sports’ newly released, FIFA 21.
This bundle will be available on October 9, to coincide with the global release date for FIFA 21, and it will also come with a downloadable content code to be used within the FIFA Ultimate Team game-mode which will afford the player a unique gold player pack and a choice of three icon player cards on loan for five matches.
