FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Needing a point to seal a place in the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers, Sunil Chhetri-led India will face Afghanistan in a Group E match in the penultimate FIFA World Cup and Asian Cup joint qualifiers in Doha tomorrow.

A 2-0 win in the last match against Bangladesh only brightened their chances of securing a direct entry into the third round of the Asian Cup qualifiers. But that won’t be an easy task given Afghanistan’s stature and organisation in recent times. Seiminlen Doungel netted a last gasp equaliser in the reverse fixture as Igor Stimac’s side clearly struggled to break the disciplined Afghan defence.

FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: With India’s World Cup qualifying hopes already over Sunil Chhetri’s side still has to finish the job. The Blue Tigers do have a better track record against Afghanistan and they should not have a problem keeping them out of the bay throughout the match.

The win against Bangladesh did come at the right time but there is no place for complacency. Brandon Fernandes will be again in the thick of the things as Stimac is likely to field him in a bid to ensure the supply line remains intact.

FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Brandon can turn the tide any day and with Manvir Singh and Sunil in the ranks, they should come down hard on the Afghans to produce a memorable performance.

With a mountain to climb, the  Afghans will not sit back and will try to invade the Indian backline at a regular interval. India’s tendency of shipping unnecessary goals has been pretty worrisome and they need to keep a check on the opposition attackers to prevent any mishaps.

FIFA World Cup Qualifiers – India vs Afghanistan: India needs to find a bedrock for their success as their clueless football looked redundant sometimes and anything less than a win would be shambolic for the Men in Blue.
