FIFA World Cup: Italian playmaker Andrea Pirlo on Thursday starred in a new global campaign by Qatar Tourism titled “No Football. No Worries.” The iconic sportsman associated with Qatar Tourism amid all the controversies resurfacing ahead of the FIFA World Cup which ranges from human rights violation to criminalisation of same-sex relationship in the country. The Pirlo-featured advertisement, however, displays the world-class facilities Qatar will have on offer while hosting the grandest football extravaganza and beyond it. In the advertisement, the Italian promotes Qatar by sandboarding down the desert dunes of the Inland Sea and soaking up the culture in the Museum of Islamic Art to kitesurfing at the country’s new resort, Fuwairit Kite Beach.
“I find people here to be very friendly, always welcoming the tourists with open arms, and I’m sure that they (tourists) will love Qatar and will feel like home,” Pirlo said.

The former Juventus star stressed that Qatar will always be special to him and the citizens of the country are ready to welcome the world with open arms.
“I have really enjoyed exploring Qatar. It is a beautiful country with beautiful people and has so much to offer. Whether you’re a sports fan or not, you can enjoy Qatar and experience adventure, culture and thrilling activities – I have been many times before, and I can’t wait to visit again,” Pirlo said.

Incidentally, the promotions for Qatar from the football legend comes days after a Danish journalist Rasmus Tantholdt from the TV2 channel was interrupted while by Qatari officials who threatened to break their camera equipment. The Qatar World Cup organisers, later, apologised for the misconduct.
“Upon inspection of the crew’s valid tournament accreditation and filming permit an apology was made to the broadcaster by on‑site security before the crew resumed their activity,” organisers said.
Moreover, English football icon David Beckham, has been massively criticised for donning the hat of an ambassador in Qatar ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
