F1 French GP: The qualifying session has started and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc has taken the pole position at the Circuit Paul Ricard for the French Grand Prix. He was followed by Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and his teammate Sergio Perez as both the drivers were on the tail of the Monegasque driver. It was Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc who took the pole position in the qualifying session of the French GP after a scintillating lap from the Monegasque driver. Meanwhile, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen claimed the second spot and locked the front row for the main event. He was followed by his teammate Sergio Perez, who had a strong qualifying session after failing to impress in the free practice sessions.

Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton had to settle for the fourth spot and was followed by McLaren’s Lando Norris in the fifth spot. Meanwhile, George Russell claimed the fifth position as Mercedes looked the third fastest car on the grid and will look to change their fortunes in the upcoming French GP.

Alpine’s Fernando Alonso claimed the seventh spot after having a great qualifying session and was followed by AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda in the eighth spot. Meanwhile, Carlos Sainz finished ninth overall and Kevin Magnussen took home the tenth position. Both Sainz and Magnussen will start the French GP from the back of the grid after taking engine penalties.

McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo claimed the eleventh spot and was followed by Esteban Ocon in the twelfth spot. Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas reached the Q2 session but failed to qualify for the Q3 session as he finished thirteenth overall. He was followed by Aston Martin’s Sebastian Vettel, who took home the fourteenth spot.

Alex Albon in his Williams could only manage to finish in the fifteenth spot and was followed by Pierre Gasly in the sixteenth position. Meanwhile, Gasly who will be racing in his home race had a tough qualifying session after getting eliminated from the Q1 session itself.

Lance Stroll had to settle for a seventeenth spot and was followed by the rookie driver Guanyu Zhou in the eighteenth spot. Mick Schumacher who got his lap time deleted could only manage to finish nineteenth as Nicholas Latifi finished the qualifying session in the twentieth position.
