At the end of the day Valtteri is pushing me right to the limit. It was a real struggle out there, the wind in different parts of the circuit. I had the spin, took some deep breaths and managed to compose myself for Q3. It never gets old, that’s for sure.
I felt pretty comfortable, but in Q3 I started to drift a bit with the rear end, more than I’d have liked. I think my long run performance has been really good, last year Lewis managed to win from second place…

Earlier In the third and final practice of Formula 1 British Grand PRIX in Silverstone, Mercedes is back where you would expect them to be. Valtteri Bottas finished as the fastest in the third practice and Lewis Hamilton was the second fastest. Bottas took the glory with a 1:25.873 and that is 0.138 clear of Lewis Hamilton.
The rest of the top 10 is Max Verstappen, Lance Stroll, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, Lando Norris, Daniel Ricciardo, Nico Hulkenberg and Pierre Gasly.
Sebastian Vettel down in 14th, one place behind Alexander Albon who missed the opening 45 minutes because of an electrical problem.
