F1 Austrian GP LIVE: When was the track built?

The fearsome, unique Osterreichring was begun in 1969 as a trade for the Zeltweg airfield circuit. The track referred to now as the Red Bull Ring was pretty much made over the colder time of the year 1995-6 when Hermann Tilke was locked in to transform the Osterreichring into a more limited, more present-day race track.

When was its first Grand Prix?

The A1-Ring, as it was then called, was opened in 1996, with Formula 1 showing up at the circuit a year later. Jacques Villeneuve came out on top in the race, while Jean Alesi had an accident when his Benetton scaled the Ferrari of Eddie Irvine. Alesi’s partner Gerhard Berger, in the interim, utilized his home Grand Prix to announce his F1 retirement.

Who won the last Grand Prix?

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the 2021 Austrian Grand Prix and was followed by Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas and McLaren’s Lando Norris in the second and third positions.
