This incident happened against Sevilla’s goalkeeper, Marko Dmitrovic. The goalie carried on playing after getting punched, apparently unhurt. After being struck, Dmitrovic managed to overpower the fan, who was then soon encircled by members of both teams and carried away while the stadium’s spectators booed.

The Serbian goalkeeper was a late inclusion to the squad, after Yassine Bounou felt ill before the match. PSV won the second leg 2-0 but were knocked out 3-2 on the aggregate score. Now, it is likely that PSV will get some form of punishment from UEFA for the fan’s actions.

Dmitrovic will consider himself lucky that the fan only managed to land a single punch. Also, it was good news that the fan did not have any dangerous weapons on him. PSV will now monitor this further and a substantial ban can be expected for the fan. Safe to say, he won’t be doing anything like this anytime soon.
