Euro 2020: Ukraine Squad, Fixtures, Schedule, Key Players, Prediction – All you need to know: Ukraine, who made their debut in the Euro Championship in 2012 as co-hosts, are set for their third appearance in the tournament at Euro 2020. Although the side failed to progress beyond the group stages in 2012 and four years later in 2016, Ukraine have come on leaps and bounds under the guidance of the legendary Andriy Shevchenko recently.

The side finished above defending champions Portugal in their qualifying group and booked their berth for Euro 2020 as group winners for the first time ever. As such, Ukraine remain increasingly confident of qualifying for the knockout stages at Euro 2020.

Ukraine in Group C of Euro 2020: Shevchenko and company have been drawn alongside the likes of Austria, Netherlands and debutants North Macedonia in Group C. Understandably, Ukraine’s serious challenge comes in the form of Netherlands.

The Oranje have revived their credentials by returning to form after a tumultuous period that saw them miss the ticket to both Euro 2016 and the World Cup in 2018.

However, the side should be confident of finishing at least as runners-up ahead of Austria and North Macedonia from the group.

Ukraine Squad for Euro 2020, Players to watch out for:

Oleksandr Zinchenko – The Manchester City full-back plays a different role for the national time. Zinchenko plays further forward in midfield and is tasked with the duty of being the creator-in-chief for Ukraine.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad and is also highly experienced at international level, having notched up 39 caps. Ukraine will be hoping he can carry forward his experience of being involved at the highest level with Manchester City to the Euros this summer.

Ruslan Malinovskyi – This name could surprise a few, but it has not popped up here without merit. Malinovskyi can be the engine for Ukraine in Euro 2020. The 28-year-old registered an impressive eight goals and 12 assists from 22 Serie A starts for Atalanta last season.

Malinovskyi also contributed significantly to Ukraine’s qualifying campaign with three goals and as many assists. It wouldn’t be a surprise if the midfielder becomes a more renowned figure after the tournament.

Andriy Yarmolenko –  Gent striker Roman Yaremchuk could be extremely close to making this list, however, we’ve opted to stick with the old legs of Yarmolenko. The West Ham United winger was a peripheral figure in the Premier League last season, but contributed two goals and three assists in the League Cup.

Notably, Yarmolenko is second in the list of all-time goal-scorers for Ukraine behind coach and former teammate Shevchenko. The 31-year-old is one of the well-respected figures within the side and will play a key role on and off the pitch for Ukraine.

Ukraine, Euro 2020 – Predictions

Ukraine have endured a few tricky results since remarkably qualifying directly for Euro 2020. There were massive defeats to both Spain and France, while they were also relegated from their Nations League group.

Irrespective of all that, Ukraine remain as favourites alongside Netherlands to qualify for the knockout stages from Group C. However, it remains to be seen whether they are able to proceed further and make a real mark on the tournament.
