Euro 2020 Final: England captain Harry Kane says, Loss will ‘hurt for rest of careers’- England captain Harry Kane was devastated after the final loss to Italy. He said that the defeat will “hurt for the rest of our careers”.

“We should be extremely proud as a group of what we have achieved. It will hurt for the rest of our careers, but that’s football. We’re all winners and want to win,” Kane told BBC Sport.

“I couldn’t have given more, the boys couldn’t have given more. Penalties is the worst feeling in the world when you lose. It wasn’t our night but it’s been a fantastic tournament and we should hold our heads high. Of course it’s going to hurt now. It’s going to hurt for a while, but we’re on the right track and we’re building and hopefully we can progress from this next year,” he added.

Italy and England moved into extra time in their Euro 2020 final with the score level at 1-1 after 90 minutes at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.

Italy won the European Championship for the first time since 1968 as Gianluigi Donnarumma saved two England penalties en route to a 3-2 shootout win after the teams had fought out a 1-1 extra-time draw at a raucous Wembley on Sunday.

England struck the fastest goal in a Euro final when, after breaking out from an Italy corner, Harry Kane fed Kieran Trippier on the right and his glorious cross was drilled home first time by left back Luke Shaw after one minute 57 seconds.

But Italy drew level in the 67th when England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford pushed Marco Verratti’s header against the post and Leonardo Bonucci pounced to slot in the loose ball.
