Epic Games vs. Apple Lawsuit: Epic Games made the revenues of $13 billion in last three years: Epic Games has generated revenues of $13 billion in the last three years. Epic’s battle royale title ‘Fortnite’ raised to meteoric popularity in 2018. Fortnite is one of the most popular battle royale games which is always trending in the community. They always do some awesome collaborations with brands, personalities, and organizations.

Last year Fortnite got removed from the Apple store and Google Play store due to policies break. Apple stated that we are removing Fortnite from the app store, due to a policy break. As they had introduced the in-game purchasing feature for V-bucks which should be done through the app store. Apple app Store charged 40% of every transaction for the in-app purchase. Due to this matter, the biggest lawsuit of the gaming industry took place where Epic Games filed a lawsuit against multi-billion company ‘Apple’.

During the court trials, the financial documents got available for the public. This document revealed the overall revenues of Epic Games generated in the last three years. Check out how much profit Epic Games made from Fortnite.

According to Roundhill Investments,

“Epic generated revenues of $5.7 billion, $4.2 billion and $5.1 billion in the years 2018, 2019, and 2020, respectively.Based on the $5.1 billion for 2020, Epic Games was recently valued at an estimated EV/Sales of 5.6, roughly in-line with large cap AAA peers.”
In the document, Epic Games predicted the revenue for 2020 almost $3.6 billion. Epic Games do not provide financial details publically but Tim Sweeney, CEO of Epic recently indicates that they have made nearly $5.1 billion in 2020.

The whole gaming community is waiting for the decision of a lawsuit, if Epic Games won the battle then it will be a huge loss for Apple as other game and app developers will refuse to pay the 40% cut to App Store. There is no info about the revenue from Fortnite but there is some info regarding other titles. Rocket league which got acquired by Epic Games in 2019 made $108 million in 2018 & 2019.
