ENG vs IRE LIVE, Lords Test: Protesters from Just Stop Oil have caused a delay for the England cricket team as they go to Lord’s for the Test match against Ireland.

Englishman Jonny Bairstow posted a photo on Instagram of the police speaking with the orange-clad protesters as they stopped a route in London.

‘If we’re a little late, it’s not our fault,’ the wicketkeeper-batsman wrote as the caption to the photo.

An essential warm-up for the upcoming Ashes series with Australia will take place when England plays Ireland in a one-off Test match that begins on Thursday.

Before reaching Lord’s, the team bus was around five minutes late.

What after ENG vs IRE?

Following a one-off, four-day Test match against Ireland at Lord’s, England will play five Test matches against Australia before the visitors wrap up their run in the ICC World Test Championship Final.

With Jofra Archer once more out and James Anderson, Ollie Robinson, and Mark Wood all getting back to full health, Josh Tongue will make his Test debut against Ireland.

Ben Stokes will play in all six Test matches despite the fact that England will undoubtedly rotate through their attack this summer because to the huge workload and injury concerns around numerous pacers.

Less than 18 months have passed since Australia thrashed England 4-0, but Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum have greatly improved their strategy.

When Australia last visited for a Test series, Stokes was arguably at the height of his abilities because the all-rounder was instrumental in England’s victory at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and continued to get attention by winning games against their longtime foes.

LEEDS, ENGLAND – AUGUST 25: Ben Stokes of England celebrates hitting the winning runs to win the 3rd Specsavers Ashes Test match between England and Australia at Headingley on August 25, 2019 in Leeds, England

The 31-year-old has just assumed a new pivotal position as skipper of a revived team that has triumphed in 10 of its most recent 12 Test matches while engaging in explosive red-ball cricket.

During the second half of that run, Stokes struggled with a knee injury and other issues that hindered his ability to bowl, but the all-rounder can now contribute with both the bat and the ball to match his former highs.
