Emma Raducanu injury update: 2021 US Open champion Emma Raducanu has made a return to the practice court for the first time on Thursday after her wrist injury that she sustained at the Billie Jean King Cup. Raducanu posted a video where she was seen hitting the ball and is hoping to be fully fit by the upcoming month before her tour to Abu Dhabi.

Raducanu sustained a wrist injury on her right hand that forced her to pull out of the Billie Jean Cup team event last month. After a month-long recovery, she has made it to the practice courts on Thursday and posted a video of her session on her Instagram story. Raducanu looked happy to have made it to the practice courts as she wrote ““tnnsssss!!!!” over the video.

However she was seen hitting the ball on her left hand that suggests that her right wrist is still not fully ready and needs time to recover.

Raducanu, 19, has struggled with a succession of injuries since her stunning U.S. Open triumph last year when she came through qualifying and took the title without losing a set. In what was her first full year on the WTA Tour, Raducanu struggled with a series of different injuries, ranging from blisters to side strains and hip and back problems that forced her to retire from many tournaments.

She also did not win any single tournament on the tour that saw her rankings slide down to World No.76. She is also currently without a coach as she has parted ways with coach Dmitry Tursunov. The 20-year-old is doing strength training with one of Andy Murray’s former fitness coaches Jez Green currently.

She hopes to return to action next month at an exhibition event in Abu Dhabi called Mubadala World Tennis Championship. where she is set to face World No.2 Ons Jabeur. raducanu missed the event last year as she contracted Covid and hoipes to recover in time so that she could make her Abu Dhabi debut.
