One of the post’s captions read, “You can tell everybody we have won the FA Cup”, a reference to a line from 1971 hit Your Song. The post saw the players and staff of the team hugging Elton John and singing, “How wonderful life is, while you’re in the world”.
The singer also clicked an image with the trophy.
City’s manager, Pep Guardiola earlier claimed that he attended John’s concert in the city last week to take his mind off the big moments, which are coming. This was City’s 7th FA Cup victory. But what makes the victory special is their hope for the treble run is still alive. They defeated local rivals, Manchester United by 2-1 to win the FA Cup final.
Manchester City Keep Their Treble Hopes Alive
City have already won the Premier League and got their hands on FA Cup after defeating Manchester United on Sunday. Their next goal is to the UEFA Champions League final against Inter Milan and to complete the treble.
If Guardiola and his players manage to win the UCL next week, this will not only be their first Champions League trophy in Club’s history, but they’ll also complete the treble. Pep Guardiola has already won the treble in his career with Barcelona, but this will be his first with Manchester City. Manchester United are currently the only English team to win a treble and City have a great chance to join the list.
Manchester City will be up against Inter Milan on 11th June(IST) at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium to complete their treble and win the first-ever UEFA Champions League trophy in the club’s history. City players are in fine form and they have the best chance this season to claim the trophy.
