Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Delhi Capitals

That’s it from us here for tonight guys. Thank you for joining us!

DC win by 60 runs

RCB manage just 137/9 in reply to DC’s target of 197 runs. DC jump to top of table with the win. Top show by the South African pacers Nortje and Rabada alongside the spinners. RCB completely outplayed in all departments tonight.

RCB-127/9 after 19 overs; need 70 more from 6 balls

Nortje castles Siraj’s stumps

Yorker from Nortje, cleans up Siraj. The batsman gave a good look of all the three stumps to Nortje and he castled the stumps

Gamechanging over from Rabada

3 runs and 2 wickets at the end of the 18th over. The Proteas has bowled one hos best spells in IPL to ruin any last remaining hope of a RCB comeback. RCB-121/8 after 18 overs

RCB 8 down

Rabada gets another one. Slower from him and Udana attempts a heave, could connect it well and is caught at mid off by Iyer.

RCB 7 down

Rabada strikes! Dube attempts a heave and missed it completely but Rabada did not miss the stumps. Sound of the timber as Dube walks back. RCB seven down.

Excellent over from Nortje

Two singles off the first two balls and then two dots before Dube runs a leg bye. Nortje yet again excellent with his yorkers. He is fast, sharp and disciplined. Just 3 off the over. RCB-118/6 after 17 overs

RCB-115/6 after 16 overs
Strategic Timeout taken; RCB need 82 from 24 balls

Sundar gone for 17

Sundar gone, slow and short from Rabada and Sundar hits it directly to Ashwin at mid-wicket.

100 up for RCB

End of Ashwin’s spell. He finishes with figures of 1 for 16. It could have looked better had Dube not him for a six on the penultimate ball of the over. RCB-105/5 after 15 overs; need more 92 from 30 balls

Excellent over from Rabada!

6 runs and a wicket! The RCB skipper gave in to the rising required rate, attempted a heave and fell. Think that wicket has sealed the win for DC. Mere formalities left now. RCB-97/5 after 14 overs; need 100 runs in 36 balls

Big blow for RCB!

Rabada strikes and he gets the big wicket. Kohli gone. Not so short, but Kohli swings across the line, the ball takes the inside edge and goes to Pant who takes a good low catch

RCB-91/4 after 13 overs; need more 106 from 42 balls

Axar finishes his four overs. Both Kohli and Moeen are finding it difficult to play the power shots. Moeen in fact was failing to time the ball and in order to hit the big shot, has perished. RCB in deep trouble, Kohli is the man for them now. Axar finishes with two wickets, top spell from him. RCB-75/4 after 12 overs

Moeen Ali gone; RCB 4 down

Moeen goes for the longest part of the boundary but Moeen Ali finds Shimron Hetmyer in the deep. FOW-76/4

RCB-70/3 after 11 overs

The boundaries have dried up but the batsmen are dealing in doubles, and Kohli is an expert at running between the wickets. However, RCB will need boundaries as the required run-rate is mounting.

RCB-63/3 after 10 overs

The required run-rate has jumped to over 13.5 an over. This will take a special effort from even Virat Kohli to chase this one down. Master of the Chase he’s called. We bet his mind is putting every equation into calculation.

DC-61/3 after 9 overs; need more 136 from 66 balls

Strategic Timeout taken; Ashwin continues from the other end, and bowls a tight lines in this over as the under-pressure pair of Virat and Moeen are able to collect a total of four singles and a brace — aside from a wide — from the offie’s third.

50 comes up for RCB

RCB-54/3 after 8 overs

Axar’s brought back into the attack, having bowled a tidy first over in which he got rid of Aussie opener Aaron Finch. Starts off with a couple of dots, followed by a single off each of the next two. Virat gets an under-edge off the fifth and comes back for a brace as the ball runs away towards third man. The skipper retains the strike with a single off the last ball.

Ashwin back on. Moeen joins Kohli in the middle. He needs to go big from the word go and the asking rate is about to touch the 12 mark. He hits a four to Ashwin in the over and RCB need more of them. But just six off the over. RCB-49/3 after 7 overs

End of Powerplay; RCB-43/3 after 6 overs

RCB in great trouble as Anrich Nortje gets the big wicket of AB de Villiers. Yes you read that right, a length ball and De Villiers hits it high up in the air, plenty of time for Shikhar Dhawan to settle under it and complete the catch cleanly. In the end he makes no mistake as RCB lose their third wicke

RCB 3 down

Hit for a six on the previous delivery and Nortje come back with a short ball, angled in and ABD swung across the line, the ball took the leading edge, went up in the ai, Dhawan caught it safely

Milestone for Virat Kohli

Kohli goes past 9000 runs in T20 cricket. Becomes the first Indian batsman to get there; The finest batsman of our generation.

RCB-38/2 after 5 overs

Axar Patel, Left arm orthodox, comes into the attack. Gets the wicket of Finch. RCB two down. Seven off the over and a wicket

2nd wicket down for RCB

Finch runs out of luck, lovely off spinner from Axarm, around the off stump and spins, takes the edge to the keeper and that’s that for Finch tonight.

RCB-20/0 after 3 overs; need 177 runs to win from 17 overs

R Ashwin strikes in his first over to remove Devdutt Padikkal. The young left-hander went for a heave on the leg side but didn’t time it too well. 5 runs and a wicket.

Ashwin strikes; Padikkal departs for 4

Ashwin strikes in his first over. From round the wicket, Padikkal comes down the wicket and tries to play a one-handed heave to the on side and perishes in the process, caught by Stoinis at deep mid-wicket.

RCB-15/0 after 2 overs

Anrich Nortje, right-arm fast, to bowl from the other end. Finch however is having some close shaved with danger, another catch dropped in the slips. He is living by the edge;10 off the over.

Good start from Rabada and DC

Just 5 runs off the opening over as both RCB openers get off the mark. RCB-5/0 after 1 over

Finch dropped in the first over

Finch casually pushes the ball back to Rabada in what is probably one of the easiest return catches of all time. Rabada gets his hand on to it only to put it down.

We are back with RCB’s chase

Padikkal and Finch walks out to bat. Kagiso Rabada to open proceedings for DC.

End of RCB innings

Delhi Capitals would be content with the total they’ve put up. Fabulous effort from Marcus Stoinis. DC would have struggled to get this total had it not been for his assault. DC- 196/4 after 20 overs

DC-184/4 after 19 overs

Stoinis is not stopping yet, he shuffles inside the crease and directs the ball over the fielders on the leg side four another boundary. With this he also brings up his 50.

Fifty for Stoinis

Gets there off 24 balls as he pummels another boundary.

Siraj returns to clean up Pant. Shortish and slower, Pant swings wildly, ball takes the inside edge of the bat and chops on to the stumps.

DC-171/3 after 18 overs

150 comes up for DC

Marcus Stoinis currently dominating over Saini. Meanwhile, Pant takes the strike and he too is not allowing Saini to calm down. Saini has so far conceded 48 from his three overs.

DC-161/3 after 17 overs

Siraj comes back on and is welcomed with a dismissive boundary by Stoinis. He is in some form and that beamer from Saini has fired him up as well. DC are attacking every ball. Making sure there is a run every ball. Nine off the over. DC-143/3 after 16 overs

50 partnership for Stoinis-Pant

DC-134/3 after 15 overs

Low full toss from Saini and Stonis swings his bat, but the ball fails to clear the boundary rope, but some bad news for RCB as Yuzvendra Chahal drops a simple catch.

Outrageous from Saini!

Free-hit coming up but hang on there. Stoinis is in a bit of discomfort. The beamer hit Stoinis right into his left hand knuckle. It was bowled at over 144 km/hour. Surely, that one’s going to sting

DC-117/3 after 14 overs; Strategic Timeout taken

Marcus Stoinis hits Moeen Ali for two massive SIXES as Delhi Capitals reach 117/3 after 14 overs. He is playing on 16 from 8 balls, while his partner Rishabh Pant is playing on 13 from 12 balls.

100 comes up for DC

Slightly slower from DC, considering they had reached 50 inside five overs. But like we mentioned, RCB and their bowlers have pulled things back incredibly since the wicket of Shaw. DC 102/3 after 13 overs

Devdutt Padikkal, how can you keep him out of action? Pulls off a smart catch near the boundary. He caught the ball but threw it back inside the rope just as he stepped over it. Got back into the field in time and collected is safely. Iyer goes for 11. FOW- 90/3

DC-88/2 after 11 overs

DC 85/2 after 10 overs

Udana returns to the attack. Dhawan plays a lofted drive off extra cover for two before getting caught in the deep. Seven off the over and a wicket. Pant is the new man in.

DC lose 2nd wicket!

Udana gives it right under his bat and Dhawan plays it in air to give a catch to Moeen Ali at long on. DC lose their second wicket. RCB coming back nicely in the game

DC-78/1 after 9 overs

Shikhar Dhawan would be looking to opening those arms. He’s faced nine dot balls so far which isn’t bad, but in order for the Capitals to continue scoring at this rate, Dhawan needs to bring out the big guns.

DC-75/1 after 8 overs

Sundar finishes his spell. Top stuff from him. Three dots in the over and then three singles on the last three balls. He finishes his spell with figures of 0 for 20. No wickets but he has done his job, pulling things back for RCB with economical overs.

Mohammed Siraj, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack now. A run-out chance at non-striker’s end but Shaw reached back in time. Dhawan with a dismissive pull on the next ball for four. But Siraj comes back well in the over to remove Shaw. Nine off the over and a wicket. DC-72/1 after 7 overs

DC lose Shaw for 42

Sundar continues. No run off the first ball. Shaw collects single off the next ball. Dhawan rotates the strike. Sundar varying his pace nicely. Shaw again tries to play across sitting on one knee but ball finds the fielder. Two singles off the last two balls. Just four off the over. Another top over from Sundar. DC-35/0 after 4 overs

What a hit!

Shaw gives himself room and simply smacks the ball over the boundary. The first six of the innings. Gets down to his knees and gets the perfect elevation. Stunning shot! Delhi Capitals 31/0 after 3 overs

Washington Sundar continues to keep things tight with his bowling. Gives away just three singles off his first over. Dhawan and Shaw just a little circumspect in that over. Bowling change already, Navdeep Saini replaces Udana. DC-14/0 after 2 overs

Good start for DC

Udana bowls the first over. Leg bye first up and DC open their account. Dhawan tucks the second ball of the over on the on side to collect first run off the bat.
