Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be eyeing to get back to winning ways when they take on Delhi Capitals in the seventh match of Indian Premier League at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. CSK would be confident to secure three points against a young DC as they have dominated the rivalry having won 15 off 21 games. The MS Dhoni-led side beat the Shreyas Iyer team on all the three encounters in the 2019 IPL edition and will like to continue the winning streak. The Delhi team, however, will be taking the field with a Super Over win in the kitty.

As the teams gear up for tonight’s clash, there are three big questions which fans would like to be answered.

1) Dream 11 IPL 2020 CSK vs DC: Will Ashwin return for the match?
The Delhi Capitals spinner dislocated his left shoulder while attempting to stop a single off the last ball of his first over. Since then there is just one question on fans mind, “Will R Ashwin be fit for the Chennai Super Kings match?” DC assistant coach Mohammed Kaif in a pre-match conference gave an update on the former CSK player’s availability.

“Plus point in this squad that we have a replacement ready, Ashwin will be going for practice today, we have not made a call on his availability if he is not fit to play tomorrow, Amit Mishra is there. We are monitoring both Ashwin and Ishant Sharma,” said Kaif.

“Soft tissue injuries will take place a lot in this IPL as players are coming back after a long time, there are big grounds and there is a lot of running involved and you cannot match in training sessions,” he added.

2) Dream 11 IPL 2020 CSK vs DC Will Dhoni move up in batting order?

When Dhoni decided to play at No.7 against Rajasthan Royals. The veteran cricket explained his decision in the post-match conference and said “I haven’t batted for a long time. 14-day quarantine doesn’t help (why he isn’t batting higher). Also wanted to try different things, give opportunities to Sam. Have the opportunity to try different things. If it doesn’t work, you can always go back to your strengths. Faf adapted very well. Something the batsmen will do, neglect square leg and go more towards long-on and long-off”.

This has left the fans wondering, if the former Indian captain will move up in the coming matches.

InsideSport has learnt from the sources that CSK coach Stephen Fleming has managed to convenience Dhoni to bat up in the order against Delhi Capitals as it would serve the team better.

“MS is one of the players that hasn’t played much cricket in the last year-and-a-half. Everyone expects MS to come out and do what he has done in the past. It doesn’t just happen, it takes a bit of work,” Fleming said ahead of Friday’s IPL match here against Delhi Capitals.

“… a part of his process of getting up to speed is his game time and that (match against RR) was really the first time that he’d batted in the middle apart from a couple of balls against Mumbai Indians.”

The sources told InsideSport that Fleming managed to reason it out with Dhoni that only way he can get his form back is by spending more time in the middle. Post the chat CSK’s captain has agreed to bat either at number 4-5 in the batting order.

3) Dream 11 IPL 2020 CSK vs DC: What will be there playing XI?

While Kaif has already said that there will just one change in the playing XI, you can expect some tweaking in the CSK camp.

The DC coach during the press conference said the team management would like all selected players a few games before tinkering with the lineup.

“Shaw and Shikhar played well for us last year, we all know what Dhawan can do and Shaw is a very promising player, having played the first game, we know the conditions, even though we did not play that well but I see improvement happening in the upcoming matches. Rahane is a fantastic player, but if we have selected a team then we would like to give players a couple of matches, and then we would see it from there,” he said.

Delhi might look to replace Ashwin with Amit Mishra or Sandeep Lamichanne.

Meanwhile, CSK would more or less sport the same playing XI from their Rajasthan match. Shane Watson and Murali Vijay opening with in-form Faf du Plessis coming at No.3. As for Rayudu, he may have to miss a couple of matches. “Rayudu is our in-form player and to lose him at that time (against RR) was disappointing. Hopefully it’s only a couple of games,” Fleming said. The No.4 and 5 spot will be taken by Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad who will swap positions as per the situation, the source told InsideSport.

Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Sam Curran will take the middle-order. Pacer Lungi Ngidi who had a disastrous night against Rajasthan might be replaced by Josh Hazlewood.

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) Probable XI: Shane Watson, Murali Vijay, Faf Du Plessis, Ruturaj Gaikwad, MS Dhoni, Kedar Jadhav, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood, Piyush Chawla, Deepak Chahar
