Diego Maradona death anniversary: Fans celebrate the glorious career of the Argentine football legend: It has now been a year since Diego Armando Maradona’s demise. The sporting world came to standstill when they heard the news for the first time. Widely known as ‘El Diego’ for his exceptional skills and am illustrious career in football. He was far from the ideal football, he always had his own rules and regulations. Just as they say there is always a method to the madness. But even after he is gone, fans remember him mostly for his languid elegance on the field and that South American panache that he brought to the game. Born in a humble neighbourhood on the outskirts of Buenos Aires, Maradona became an icon to many in Argentina and around the world. He was a cult hero in Napoli, Italy, where he helped drive an underdog team to domestic and European glory.

“It was wonderful, seeing this kid who started with nothing and suddenly had everything. He made us dream and imagine that we could also do great things.”
