Dhoni pushed, manhandled by crowd in Rajasthan; police resort to lathi charge:Former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may not be playing cricket like before but he still has a huge following that can rival even Sachin Tendulkar’s as a huge crowd gathered in Rajasthan’s Sachore district to catch a glimpse of the World Cup winning skipper.
Dhoni, who was on a visit to Sachore to inaugurate a school had to face a fan frenzy on Sunday while he was inaugurating the school. The mob uprooted tents and barricades as Dhoni was pushed, pulled and manhandled. He was quickly sent back to Ahmedabad by officials. Police looked helpless but later resorted to lathi-charge to control the crowd and keep Dhoni safe.
The school’s founder Dharamchand Jain is a long-time friend of Dhoni. Dharamchand runs Dhoni’s business in Mumbai and Dubai. Dhoni was invited to inaugurate the school that was made in the name of Dharamchand’s mother.
Meanwhile, Dhoni landed in Chennai to begin preparation for IPL 2021 as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are looking to put the abysmal season behind and start afresh. Apart from CSK skipper Dhoni, batsman Ambati Rayudu also reached Chennai and the other Tamil Nadu players will soon be joining the camp.
Speaking to ANI, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said that the team is looking to start the camp for the upcoming season of the IPL by the 8th or 9th of March.
“We are looking to start our camp from the 8th or 9th as we look to prepare for the upcoming edition of the IPL. Skipper MS Dhoni is here and the likes of Ambati Rayudu and all those available will be a part of the camp. We are also looking at the Tamil Nadu boys who are part of the team to join in,” he said.
