Nehwal had to withdraw from the Thomas and Uber Cup midway after injury, and the London Olympics medallist will be hoping to prove her mettle and return to her very best at the tournament. Nehwal and Ohori have never met professionally in their careers, and come into the game on the back of contrasting forms in the build-up to the Denmark Open 2021.

Former top ten player HS Prannoy will face a stern test as he takes on sith seed Jonatan Christie. Prannoy, now ranked 30, has tasted victory in only one of his last five games and will have his backs against the wall with his Indonesian opponent having won four of his last five games. In six previous head to head encounters, Pranniiy has claimed three wins, the latest coming earlier this year in the Thailand Open.
Lakshya Sen has a point to prove after missing out on the Thomas and Uber Cup squad, as he begins his campaign against fellow Indian ace Sourabh Verma. Sen has lost both his previous encounters to Verma in the BWF circuit, but comes into the game on the back of a stellar show at the Dutch Open, while form has deserted Sourabh since the start of the year. Former Commonwealth medallist Parupalli Kashyap also kick starts his campaign, taking on No.4 seed Chou Tien Chen.
