DAZN records 950% year on year revenue growth

DAZN with a phenomenal growth over the past one year has emerged as world’s top grossing sports app in the month of May. According to a study by data analyst Sensor Tower, DAZN’s has brought in approximately $11.5 million in revenue. The numbers are over nine times more than the gross user spending for DAZN during May 2018.

A major 35% share comes from the US subscribers through its mobile app. The revenue flow is also boosted by DAZN’s entry in the USA, Italy, Spain and Brazil in the past 12 months.

Japanese subscribers contributed 6.5% cent of its revenue. The DAZN service in Japan has also created a peak viewership record for the nation when the Japanese national football team met Chile in the ongoing Copa America Championship.

The Sensor Tower study has taken into consideration the DAZN revenue from the iOS App Store and Google Play, but excluded the income from the Android stores regions including China.

ESPN’s sports app has been right behind DAZN in gross revenue, aggregating $4.7 million in user spending, a 5.6-time gain over its revenues in May last year. Almost 75% of its revenue has come from the USA. Canada in the second position accounted for 1.6% income.

Major League Baseball’s at the bat and the National Basketball Association app also trailed behind DAZN Sportts, while onX Hunt, an offline GPS-driven app used for hunting, made up the top five for the month.

The revelation comes as DAZN announced that it has secured rights to the Chinese Super League (CSL) for the 2019 and 2020 seasons for its Italian service.
