Following his victory over Tom Aspinall, a lot has been speculated about his future with the UFC. While fans and MMA pundits continue to speculate what’s next for the UFC Heavyweight, Curtis Blaydes himself has made it known that he’ll not fight anybody ranked below him.

During a recent appearance on the MMA Hour, Curtis Blaydes talked about wanting to fight the winner of Cyril Gane vs Tai Tuivasa, he said:
“I’m not going to fight someone again ranked below me. I did it for Aspinall because I knew a win over him would be legitimate, and he’s ranked sixth but could easily be top five. So, that was different. But, I’m not going to fight someone ranked below me. I want the winner of Tai Tuivasa. I’ve earned it, I deserve it. I’ve been in the Top five since 2018, ever since I beat Alistair [Overeem]. I deserve a title eliminator fight.”

It is safe to say that Curtis Blaydes isn’t interested in fighting anybody that is ranked below himself and rightfully so. As mentioned by Blaydes, he has been in the top 5 since 2018. He deserves to get a shot at the higher ranked opponents, preferably the winner of Cyril Gane and Tai Tuivasa,
However, even though Curtis Blaydes has made his demands heard, the ball still lies in the UFC’s court and it remains to be seen as to what’s next for him inside the octagon.
