Ronaldo stole the headlines after his controversial interview last month. As a result, Manchester United even terminated Ronaldo’s contract, leaving him without a club. And as CR7 prepares to face Switzerland in the RO16 in the FIFA World Cup today, two boxers have now taken aim at him.

Talksport put out a tweet asking fans who they would pick between Ronaldo Nazario and Cristiano Ronaldo in their prime. Former professional footballer, boxer, and current Talksport host Leon McKenzie responded with, “Not even a discussion R9 the best.”
Troy Williamson, a 19-1-1 boxer, also joined in the discussion and said, “Fat Ronaldo was some player”. Thus showing that despite Nazario’s issues, both boxers would prefer Ronaldo Nazario over CR7. It will be interesting to see if the events of the last few months have anything to do with their choices.
Who are the boxers who picked Ronaldo Nazario over Cristiano Ronaldo?
While Ronaldo Nazario and CR7 are household names in the sport, fans may not be familiar with Leon McKenzie and Troy Williamson. So who are these boxers who have slammed Cristiano Ronaldo and picked R9?
Leon McKenzie is a former professional footballer turned boxer. He played in all four professional divisions in England and then had 11 professional bouts. He retired from boxing with an 8-2-1 record. And with no titles to his name.
Troy Williamson, on the other hand, is a 31-year-old Brit who fought as recently as last week and experienced his first defeat in his professional career. The 19-1-1 boxer has an impressive record with wins over the likes of Ted Cheeseman and Kieran Smith and even held the IBF European super-welterweight title.
Therefore, while their choice may surprise a few fans, it is just a case of them giving their opinion. An opinion that many fans also share.
