In what has come as a huge development, star India players in Shubman Gill and Avesh Khan, who are with Team India as ‘travelling reserves’ are set to fly back home after the group stages of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Were Shubman Gill & Avesh Khan not wanted by BCCI?
Shubman Gill, who was dropped in favor of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the 15-man squad, will be returning home after the conclusion of the matches in the United States. He is joined by pacer Avesh Khan, who is also likely to fly back after India’s clash against Canada on June 15. in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Sources from Cricbuzz indicate that Gill and Avesh’s presence with the squad was intended solely for the US leg, with the possibility of their return subject to any unforeseen injuries. Their inclusion as travelling reserves stems from the logistical challenges of the BCCI promptly sending replacements from India to the US or the Caribbean in the event of a player injury.
Both Gill and Avesh are currently in Florida, having travelled with the team from New York, where India beat the co-hosts USA. This chartered flight, arranged for both the Indian and American teams, followed their match at the Nassau County International Stadium in Long Island on Wednesday.
